Livret - The roads of Europe :
Photographs of a migration journey
Curatorial Statement :
The Routes of Europe: Photographs of a Migratory Narrative was born from the desire to shed light on the issue of migration through personal, poetic, and committed testimonies, while also highlighting the work of young artists. Exploring the contexts of Greece, Bulgaria, Italy, Serbia, and France, the exhibited photographs examine the experiences of exiled individuals, places of transit, and the question of memory.
Among these, the theme of self-portraiture is explored by Erik Sémashkin, while Adelina Kassenova and Dora Barnes Arthur delve into cultural heritage and the diaspora through their works.
Activism is also present, with a particular focus on Bulgaria by Mel Decorte, and the theme of exile expressed in the portraits by Eva Rouhier. A visual and poetic reflection on mobility is offered by Coral Lin, whereas Nitouche Anthoussi addresses the reinvestment of places and the notion of heterotopia on the Greek island of Leros, a site marked by migration. This reflection continues in the work of Vanina Ninova, who captures graffiti, notably transforming xenophobic tags into messages of openness for Europe.
